The U.S. has lifted sanctions on Russian container vessels

On March 31, 2026, Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC, U.S. Department of the Treasury) removed three Russian-flagged vessels from the sanctions list — FESCO Moneron, FESCO Magadan, and Sv Nikolay. The information is confirmed by the regulator’s official announcement. The delisting applies to two FESCO container ships and one dry cargo vessel that had been under sanctions since 2022.

It is important to note, however, that this does not indicate any easing of U.S. sanctions policy. OFAC does not disclose the specific reasons for delisting, referring only to the outcome of an internal review. Such decisions are targeted and do not extend to companies or the industry as a whole.
